Agency Ad Account Glossary — 25 Key Terms Explained
By Triple A Team · August 5, 2026
Whether you are new to agency ad accounts or briefing a new team member, this glossary covers the 25 terms that come up most often when buying, running, and scaling agency ad accounts on Facebook, Google, TikTok, and Snapchat.
Agency ad account
An ad account that runs under an official agency partner of the platform, inheriting the agency's trust level, higher spending limits, and support access.
Business Manager (BM)
Meta's container for pages, ad accounts, pixels, and people. Agency accounts live inside an agency-owned Business Manager.
Spending limit
The maximum amount an ad account can spend over a period. New personal accounts start with small limits; agency accounts start with high or no practical cap.
Account restriction
When a platform pauses an account or its ads pending review. Common triggers include sudden spend spikes, policy flags, and low-trust accounts.
Ban
A permanent disabling of an ad account, profile, or Business Manager. Bans on self-serve accounts often destroy the pixel data attached to them.
Appeal
The process of requesting a platform to reverse a restriction or ban. Agency accounts appeal through direct agency channels, which are faster and more successful.
Pixel
A tracking snippet that records conversions and feeds optimization data back to the platform. Protecting pixel data is a core reason to use agency infrastructure.
Conversions API (CAPI)
Server-side conversion tracking that complements the browser pixel, improving data accuracy and resilience against cookie restrictions.
Warm-up
Gradually increasing spend on a new account to build trust. Agency accounts often skip or shorten warm-up thanks to inherited trust.
Unlimited account
Colloquial term for an agency ad account with no practical spending cap, used by advertisers scaling to large daily budgets.
CPM
Cost per 1,000 impressions. High-trust accounts often achieve better CPMs because platforms give them fuller auction participation.
CPC
Cost per click. Dominant pricing metric for Google Search advertising.
CPA
Cost per acquisition — the effective cost of one conversion. The metric that ultimately decides whether scaling is profitable.
ROAS
Return on ad spend. Revenue generated divided by ad spend. The core profitability ratio for e-commerce advertisers.
Scaling
Increasing ad spend while keeping efficiency stable. Requires account stability, high limits, and proven creatives.
Creative fatigue
When an audience has seen an ad too many times and performance drops. Scaling operations counter it with continuous creative production.
Agency center
The TikTok/Google equivalent of Meta's Business Manager where agency-owned ad accounts are managed.
Whitelisting / creator ads
Running ads through a creator's or influencer's handle with their permission, common on TikTok for higher authenticity and performance.
Landing page quality
A platform's assessment of the destination page. Poor landing pages trigger restrictions regardless of account quality.
Policy violation
Any breach of a platform's advertising policies, from misleading claims to prohibited products. The most common cause of restrictions.
Cloaking
Showing different content to reviewers than to users. Strictly prohibited and a leading cause of permanent bans — avoid providers who rely on it.
Backup account
An extra ad account kept ready so a restriction never stops delivery. Serious scaling operations always run redundant accounts.
Replacement guarantee
A provider's promise to replace a restricted or banned account free within a defined window, typically 24 hours.
Multi-accounting
Running several ad accounts in parallel to spread risk and test different angles. Agency infrastructure makes this practical.
Delivery
The platform actually serving your ads to audiences. Accounts 'in review' or restricted have no delivery — the most expensive state in paid advertising.
Using these terms in practice
When talking to a provider, the most important vocabulary is: spending limit, replacement guarantee, pixel protection, and delivery. If a provider answers clearly on all four, you are in good territory. If they are vague on any of them, keep looking.
